CAN ITAKE HERBS? |
Although herbal remedies were widely used in the United States less than one hundred years ago, they fell out of use. With all the side effects of pharmaceuticals there is a resurgence of interest in herbs. In these circumstances, many manufacturers and users of herbal remedies are performing their own trial and error experiments. Many cases of misused herbs have been reported, and this has given herbs a bad name. Most doctors do not have any knowledge of herbal medicine and therefore may advise their patients to avoid herbs altogether. It is important to remember that Traditional Oriental Medicine has perfected the use of herbs with thousands of years of use and has a written history of cause and effect. Each dosage amount and exact effect of an herb is carefully calculated. Practitioners of Oriental Herbal Medicine know all contraindications, including compatibility with Western pharmaceuticals, of any herb or herbal formula. |

CAN I TAKE HERBS WHILE PREGNANT? |
Yes, most herbs will have no side effect on pregnant women. In fact many herbs can prevent morning sickness and miscarriage. However, there is a clear list of approximately 20 herbs which are contraindicated during pregnancy. All practitioners of Oriental Herbal Medicine are well aware of these herbs and will not prescribe them during pregnancy. |
